IV THERAPY TECHNIQUES FOR NURSES

WHAT IS IV THERAPY?

In this course, you will learn and practice how to safely set up and maintain intravenous (IV) therapy.

Identify intravenous site selection and the proper equipment used to insert, secure, and disassemble an IV line. Identify IV fluid solutions and recognize complications and problems that may arise with an IV line.

This class is suitable for nurses and serves as a refresher course for nurses that have been out of the clinical setting for some time. Emphasis is placed on safety, nursing judgement, evidence-based practice and quality improvement as it pertains to patient care.

As an IV therapy professional, you monitor the insertion site and IV medication bag.
